Zeus and his brothers (Hades and Poseidon) had to split the world and he receives the sky

Poseidon (Neptune)*

God of Sea, Earthquakes, and Horses

Ruler of the Sea

Poseidon's weapon of choice is the Trident

Married to Amphitrite

Son of Cronus and Rhea

Siblings are Zeus, Hades, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter

Hades (Pluto)*

God of the Dead

Ruler of the Underworld

Son of Cronus and Rhea

Siblings are Zeus, Poseidon, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter

While looking for a wife he abducted and married the daughter or Zeus and Demeter, Persephone

Hera (Juno)*

Goddess of Youth, Women, and Marriage

Married to Zeus

Daughter of Cronus and Rhea

Siblings are Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Demeter

Hera is well known for her attempt and killing Zeus' half mortal son Hercules. Hera hated Hercules because he was born to a mortal that Zeus had been with. In her attempt to kill Hercules she put two snakes in his crib.

Hestia (Vesta)*

Goddess of Hearth and Home

Hestia is the first daughter of Cronus and Rhea

Siblings are Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, and Demeter

Best know as the Virgin Goddess because when Zeus offered her a husband she requested that she never have to be married. Zeus agreed to this request and she stayed virginal her entire life.

Demeter (Ceres)*

Goddess of Agriculture

Mother of Aphrodite

Daughter of Cronus and Rhea

Siblings are Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Hera

Athena (Minerva)*

Goddess of Wisdom, War, and Art

Daughter of Zeus and Metis

Fought with Poseidon and are known for their hate toward each other. Their fight was for a city in Greece. Both Athena and Poseidon gave the city a gift so the townspeople could choose the better. Poseidon gave the city a spring but the spring was filled with very salty water and this made it useless. Athena gave the city an olive tree. The city liked this gift better because it was useful for food and oil. When Athena won the city she renamed it Athens.

Apollo (Apollo)*

God of Prophesy, Music, and Healing

Son of Zeus and Leto

Twin brother of Artemis

Artemis (Diana)*

Goddess pf the Hunt and Child Birth

Daughter of Zeus and Leto

Twin sister of Apollo

Some stories say that Artemis was born first so that she could assist her mother in the birth of her twin brother Apollo.

Ares (Mars)*

God of War, Battle lust, and Manly Courage

Son of Zeus and Hera

In stories it is said that Ares is the father of Romulus and Remus (the mythological brothers that found Rome)

Hermes (Mercury)*

Messenger of the Gods

Son of Zeus and a mountain nymph, Maia

Is known as the fastest of all gods and therefore wears a winged hat and winged shoes.

Is the personal messenger for Zeus but also is the guild for the dead to the Underworld.

Aphrodite (Venus)*

Goddess of Love, Desire, and Beauty

Nobody is sure of who Aphrodite's parents are because there are two different stories.The first story is that she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. The second story is that she is the result of Cronus castrating Uranus and tossing his genitals into the sea. From that Aphrodite rose from the sea foam.

Some people believe that Aphrodite is also Helen of Sparta during the battle of Troy.

Hephaestus (Vulcan)*

God of Fire and Crafts

Hephaestus is said to be the only ugly god
