Mollie plays for Division 2 Winona State. This year Mollie led the team in HITS, Doubles, Triples, and HOME RUNS> What a year for Mollie. Congratulations, you DUDE good! You have set the bar high for others. Don and Deb were able to attend the ceremonies last Wednesday evening... Congrats to Don and Deb. At the Rice Lake scrimmage, Gary Haus lined up both high school teams and acknowledged Mollie's accomplishment. He said to the fans that THIS IS A BIG DEAL for all of us.... He also congratulated Don as being a good coach and father.
Grantsburg dominates Cumberland 12-0 in 5!
SHOW-DOWN TIME!!!
Traci is starting to HEAT it up...
For those of you that have been watching, the rankings have changed a lot in the last few weeks. In this NOT scientific poll Grantsburg had maintained the #1 rating all year. Even though it is nice, it means little. But, if you look at the list, it may show you some of the teams that will do well. On Thursday we will see St. Croix Central. SCC is one of the premier teams in the region. It will be a great game. Normally, when they say rematch, they mean the coaches or the town. This year truly is a rematch. SCC bats the exact same team as last year. Grantsburg has only 1 player different. SCC and Grantsburg have had some good games over the years and they have become good rivals. Good Luck to both teams. Everyone wants a good game from both sides. After all, it is for the regional championship. Below is a list of teams that are expected to do well in the tourney. Tournaments are designed to make losers of everybody except 1 team....must be some adult creation for entertainment purposes. For today...we are still in the tournament.

all-conference players returned to watch...(no pic of Callie, Becky. etc...and others)
Good Morning..It is Wednesday..check back as I write...
Finchy, Mac, Tiff and Em all prepared the field. It was either that or sit in class... So the field was lined....the little rocks were picked up...the mound and boxes were tamped. The left field line grew to a foot wide and we were ready to play... The team arrived..each with their own copy of the Pioneer Press. If you need a copy of your own, contact Kathy Palmquist.
Warm up times are different during tournament games. Being the home team, our time was 4:20 - 4:35 which is not our normal routine. But we made it work. The home plate ump for the night was a buddy of the SCC coach. It was the first time he had umped in Grantsburg. He may skip golf on Thursday and come back to watch.
Rockin' Romo...wow... dive to catch a bunt and "like a cat, pounce on the short one...."

Grantsburg is seeded #1 in the region and automatically become the home team. Of course, the frosh still think we flip the coin. We would have explained it to them, but words would not be small enough. Cumberland batted first and after two strike outs made some noise. But, Grantsburg survived the two walks and the inning was over.
What a lead off hitter! Tiffany lined the first pitch to center and we were off. What a #2 hitter...Kylie placed down a bunt and beat it out by about 2 weeks. After a Cumberland error, the bases were loaded. HD came to the plate and bamboozled them with a single and we were on the board. EC walked and ROMO unloaded to the gap in left center with one of the world's longest singles. Cody followed with a line drive to center field scored as a Sac. And the scoreboard was lit up. The score after one was 6-0.
Kylie flew tonight with 3 more hits!

Cumberland did not score in the second as Mich struck out two more.
In the second, the parade started again. Kylie picked up her second hit and was quickly followed by a Mich single. Annie and HD reached on fielding errors. EC was back in her Park Falls mode and walked one more time. Cody has had a HOT bat lately and singled up the middle scoring two more runs. By the time the second inning was complete, Grantsburg had the lead 10-0.
Sarah had an UNBELIEVABLE scrimmage vs. Rice Lake!
Even though Cumberland's bats were done, Grantsburg still had more stories to make. Kylie....wow... doubled to left as she picked up her third hit. Annie rocketed one past the third baseman... Romo launched another one to the gap for the world's second longest single and the game was 12-0.
Mac did pick up a hit in the bottom of the fourth on a well hit line drive to left. Then I am not exactly sure what happened but she was soon sitting next to me on the bench... with Easter Bunny stories spewing forth. But, it was a nice hit.
For the game, Mich had pitched a no-hitter...nice job! Cumberland did pick up 2 walks and had one more runner reach on a Grantsburg error. Grantsburg had 11 hits and 3 walks and took advantage of a few Cumberland miscues.
TWIS: Grantsburg had a great scrimmage vs. Rice Lake picking up 15 hits for the night. Sarah was ON FIRE. Annie hit the ball sooo hard, they had to put a band aide on it. Heather, EM, and Cody also had multiple hit scrimmages... Thanks to Bosaks again for the drinks... Rice Lake gave our kids burgers, cookies, chips, and cupcakes...very, very nice. It is Tuh, not Tah. Don still needs to sell puppies. Tiff growls in practice when she doesn't hit line drives. Thanks Scott for the pics....Bart has been faithful. Kylie actually pays attention now when we practice....she is over the froshitis. Mich just grins and throws the ball...even though she still pitches with her eyes closed....and wears Forest lake stuff for the paper. The guy wanted an action shot of Annie...so Don pitched, the photo guy photoed...EC danced in the back ground and Annie hit it OUT>..good timing by all. Sarah and Cody celebrated grad last weekend. Romo's parents made her sit in the soft chair allll of last night. IT paid OFF.... Do it again. HD's leg is healed, but she now has 11 toes. EC tried to wear gang stuff at New Richmond...and now she does again...but she hides it under her helmet. Cody flew to center and slid into second base.... A confused Sam quickly ran and hid. The Cumberland shortstop took a MIch grounder off the beak.... but she was ok. Then Annie played croquet with the third baseman as she hit one through the hoops. Gabb will buy a warning track so she knows where she is.....or just ask Cody. You should watch Jo...she works on blocking the ball each night.... Good to see Heather....she was a good shortstop... Good to have Kelcy at the game...awesome everything... Even Miranda was there......wow, did she hit some balls. Nice job BB team....you took out a #1 and got some revenge. In case you haven't heard, of the 20 all conference softball players, we have 9. That would be the entire batting lineup. Yes, it seems odd but the Conference wants 20.....and we definitely have 9 of those 20. Romo, Annie, and Michelle will play in the Wisconsin all-star game. WE have never had 3 players before. Sam got spiked in practice..nice gash! Emily suggested a draw WIERD pics on the field. would have killed a normal man! Tonight we have some guest pitchers coming in to throw.... We play home Thursday vs. SCC who beat Boyceville 10-0 in 6. Good luck baseball as you play tonight..... and see everybody Thursday in a game that will leave memories...either way. In the mean time, Romo will sit in the tub. 212 was last year. I will pay attention to the signals. The third base foul line continues to grow... Kathy has 46 papers..... more stories on the way.
There is this look in Don's eyes....He sees a pretty darn GOOD team! (Pioneer Press)
Steve,
Congrats on a very fine article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding the softball team. It is just awesome! J
Please tell Don and the team “way to go!”
Joni (Dr. Burgin)
