Happy 18th birthday Annie..
and...
Our pitcher and catcher have grown up!!!!!!
Romo and Michelle....

Did you know that Northwood had a big issue over which color green to use? I wonder what they selected. Did you know that Northwood has a pitched roof on its school. It still leaks. Did you know that Northwood sent its girl's basketball team to the state tournament?? Great Job! Congratulations and we are proud of you. The state tournament rush is pretty sweet and we are pleased that Northwood had the experience... Siren claims two things influenced their history....the tornado and the state tournament last year. Enjoy it Northwood...You had a Great Year! I remember the days when Gunnar Stapp and the boys took the boy's basketball team to state... If you can send a team to state you have Great athletes. This is what our great athletes looked like LAST year?????

Jojo Lauer.....have you met her? So we filmed all the swings so that we could watch them in slow motion. I made the mistake of leaving my camera unattended... Jo found it and left me a little show. Last year she found my camera and then jumped into Little Wood Lake when there was ICE everywhere... Somehow, Sam must be involved, too. Jo's perfect technique
Here is a picture of me with my two invisible friends.
First we had to prepare for the game....with some subs....and some SHADOW PIPES!!!

eat well, sleep well, swing well.
see ya. I am going home to eat......
With great excitement Grantsburg prepared for its home opener. The umps were our buddies that did the state tournament game in 2006. Our team did a great job of buttering them up before the game. The umps like coming here....nice crowds...brats...and some good softball. They were fresh of a good game at Barron and were looking forward to playing in the sunshine. The smell of hamburgers was in the air mingling with Henry the 8th. It was time to play ball in Grantsburg and a nice crowd had gathered.

Tiffany was the lead off batter. She hit a ball deep into the 5 hole but was thrown out on a good play by the Northwood shortstop. Sarah had been walking with a swagger all day and soon drilled a line drive to left. After Michelle followed with her own line drive the Pirates had taken a 1-0 lead.
Annie batted fifth this game and launched the first pitch over the left fielder’s head resulting in a triple. About 1 pitch later, Emily launched one over the right fielder’s head. When Cody reached on an error Emily also scored and the Pirates were comfortably ahead 3-0.
The third inning brought more of the same. Michelle singled and was driven home when HD hit it to the gap in right center. Annie came to the plate again. Now I have seen some hard balls hit in the last few years but this one could have been the most solid. It went by the head of the thirdbaseman soooo fast. It really was a monster smash. Grantsburg now led 5-0.
In the 4th inning Kylie worked the pitcher for a walk. Tiff hit a grounder to short and Kylie showed off her speed beating the throw to second. Sarah bunted for a single and the overthrow resulted in a couple more runs. 8-0

In the fifth inning lots of people got a chance to bat. Kayla Casey, freshmen, grounded to short. Nicole singled and would eventually score. She would also catch the last inning. Mac flew to center….Gab reached on a shortstop error. Jess walked. Pitchers seem to throw her lots of balls. Johanna grounded to second.
Sliding practice at the plate

The 6th inning would be the last inning of the game. Michelle started by hitting a short fly to left that was mishandled. Finchy blasted a line drive to center and it set up Annie for a walk off single. The final score in 6 innings was 10-0 Grantsburg.
For the game Grantsburg had 12 hits and two walks. Grantsburg had zero strikeouts for the entire game. Northwood did collect 1 hit and walked twice. Michelle picked up the win while striking out 7 batters.
Sarah Rocketeched a couple more tonight.

TWIS: So Gabbie ran home...not sure why??? but she ran home. You just never know about Gab? The videos will soon be on your nose. Go to windows moviemaker, import file, then watch in slow Mo. You may be surprised. No JV innings tonight because of the basketball banquet. The banquet was cleared in advance when the JV game was scheduled for the same time (5:00) Northwood was not able to play at the same time...so NO game. The school also owns some GREAT bats but some players get their own so they can actually PRACTICE with the bat they use. Thanks Bart for throwing some heat. Hi Lydia....my mom is pleased. Since you are no longer around.... we no longer sing the National Anthem... instead we sing...Happy Days are Here Again... Mac attacked the scoreboard Wednesday. Jessica works very, very hard in practice pitching to batters. Tiff thinks the Frosh should rake the field every day. Did you OIL your glove, yet? Gretchen...STAY in college! your mom was NOT pleased with me. Oh ING>...soooooo nice that you stopped by. Happy Birthday Annie Palmquist.... 18 years old... I am glad you DID NOT kill the third baseman or you would have been tried as an adult! What a hit. Nancy showed....cool....and Mary. Mac went to bat with her BUCKLE undone?????? Good thing she didn't do a head first slide or she would have filled her pants!. The Palmquist family had a walk off hit on both fields last night... NO< I won't take that picture!!! not even me... but I wanted to.... Happy 18th birthday Annie Palmquist... Now you can finally start acting like an adult...and you can also TAG up when the ball is hit to right. Tie a yellow ribbon on the old bald spot. Does the baseball team still dance to our music...Go Gavin! We will have room on our bench. Scott Hoffman's shots are amazing....thanks one more time. The players brought back the step away intros used when they smoked Park Falls. Welcome aboard frosh. Baserunning will be the emphasis in practice tonight... of course there may be treats, more laughs, and a realllllly good time. Remind Finchy to wear glasses or get contacts. Your movie clips may not be on until later today...so don't pick your nose, yet>>>>
