Time to Celebrate Goal #1:
Conference Champion
Grantsburg 16 - Frederic 0

This officially makes
Grantsburg the undefeated Conference Champion. It adds to a very nice run
by the Pirates. Congratulations to the Pirates 2010 team. It is a very
nice accomplishment. We are also hearing rumors that starting next spring
Frederic and Luck will have combined spring athletic teams. That would make the
existing conference 5 teams...so we may also see changes in the conference.
A conference championship is VERY special. Take time to enjoy!
We all realize it was time
to put on GAME FACES!

From Parent's Night there were a couple of
pictures that were just retrieved. So if you were wondering where your pic
was.... we are not sure either.... but for some of you, Here they are. Thanks Scott

Lydia has had some neat experiences at college.
Here she is with the same pose I saw her on Cross-town. That non-potable
water will get you every time. They should invent signs that say
NON-POTABLE. And she now realizes that there actually is a Henry the
8th.... and he was quite a guy!..... we think? or was he???? And...
EVERYBODY ask Lydia about the picture!!!!!

Heather has a quad injury. She went to
the doctor last Tuesday night and was told to not do anything until next Monday.
She is able to walk around but it is pretty sore. Hopefully, it will
improve quickly. Heather has been our clean up batter and right fielder
all year. Get better fast Heather... and when you graduate Sunday, walk
slowly.......
Don has 14 puppies to unload. If you buy
1 puppy your kid can bat first. If you buy two puppies, your kid can bat
first and pitch. If you buy the entire batch, your kid can bat first,
pitch, and the entire family will get into home games for free. If you are from
another town, we can help you with the open enrollment forms and next year we
will let your town win.
Buy now!....Bjelland Shavings and Puppy Mill.

Kelcy's dog Lola is not available. She is in DC accepting
Dog Awards.
She never learned to point.... cause she always gets her way!

The seeding meeting went well
on Wednesday night. For starters Don saw the ump that did our St. Croix
Falls game. Do you remember the play where Michelle slid into the catcher
who DID not have the ball, yet? The ump said he rechecked the rule and
that Michelle should have been safe. Then the meeting started.
Grantsburg was an obvious choice for seed #1. For the complete listing go
to
http://wiaawi.org/results/softball/2010/d3bracket.pdf Being the
#1 seed means a couple of things. For starters the May 27 game is a bye
for us since there are only 7 teams in our region. It will give us a good
chance to go watch somebody play..... On Tuesday, June 1 we will have a home
game vs. one of the other winners. If we win that game, we play home again on
June 3. If we lose, the season is over. Whoever wins the game on
June 3 will head to sectionals. It doesn't matter if we win or lose....
the first round of the sectional tournament is hosted by Grantsburg on Monday,
June 8. The four winners then continue to St. Croix Central in Hammond who
is hosting the sectional finals. Good Luck Pirates..... Play well and see
what happens. It has been a great year, so far..... now it is time for
some dessert.
Annie's Water Bottle was
taller than Tiffany.

Annie just had the Hardest
Smash of the Year....Wow.
In Wisconsin, the sport with the most injuries is gymnastics.
This is based on doctor visits. If you are out for gymnastics, you will
get hurt....sorry. Girl's basketball is the next most dangerous
sport...mostly knee injuries and exaggerated Q-angles. Down the list
football eventually shows up. Moral of the story....play softball....
all you have to worry about is choking on seeds.
The umps reminded us that they have been
part of Grantsburg's first 2 state tourneys..
We bought them souvenir hats! Thanks
Dave and Mark! Buy Glasses!

TWIS: The seniors had a nice class trip...only two
arrested. The school will never find out. We think Michelle was
kidnapped...must have been the Eskola Club from Alaska. Bart took a shot
at Mac and won. The 24 new softies are great. The JV had their last
practice. Team pics after school Friday....so wear uniform....and comb
your hair. Scott Hoffman is the Photog. Yes, Don really has 14
puppies to unload. Warm weather is much nicer than 32 and snow.
Frederic is a #1 seed in their region, too. They are division 4.
Rice Lake is a #1 seed in their division 2 tournament. We are looking to
find a game for next Tuesday or Thursday. If it happens, we will let you
know...quickly!! Funny stuff Lydia. Miranda is back after running
for Mayor in Tennessee. Michelle learned about the animals and Como
Zoo...she was still grinning. Annie's water bottle has luggage wheels.
The ump remembered Heather from the state tournament. Happy birthday Mama
Romo. It was a huge crowd. The New Frederic field is nice. It
is also very hard.....our spikes did not sink in. Romo also lost a spike.
Nicole was involved in a 9-3 put out. Gabb runs with her arms out. Kylie
is fast. Hurry and Heal Heather! Actually, the umps own their own hats. Sam
and her Harley update: There is no law about standing on the seat while you
drive.
It is graduation....Congratulations Seniors. When you come back Monday for
practice, you will need visitor passes. Look up the names of your
relatives so you don't look dumb on Sunday.

Hi Steve-
Our fields are behind the Belknap Plaza. If you are traveling east on Belknap
(US 2) you will take a right at Subway onto Elm Avenue, they are approx. 3
blocks down on the right. Corner of Elm Avenue and Court D.
Nothing else I can think of that you need to know.
See you Monday!!

Happy Birthday Twins!

Good morning...it is Friday morning...and I am
now telling the stories......
And Now for the game. This was one of
those games where I was almost intimidated. Frederic has a great record
and some very good ball players. But, tonight Grantsburg was literally
unstoppable. For 1 night in May, the Pirates looked awesome. We may
not win any more games......but tonight, we were really good.
Tiff started the game with a 4 pitch walk.
When the catcher's throw went passed first base, Tiff went all the way to third
and soon scored on Kylie's single. Even though Frederic threw it around a
little and also allowed an EC hit, the Vikes stiffened and kept Grantsburg at 1.
Michelle was focused tonight and threw very well. In the first inning, she
struck out 2 and did not allow a baserunner.
Grantsburg started to unload in the second
inning. Nicole reached on an error. With 1 out, Tiff singled as did
Kylie and Michelle. Annie was hit by a groundball and called out for
interference. By rule, Emily is credited with a hit. After shots by
Romo and Cody Grantsburg was now in a comfortable 6-0 lead. In the bottom of the
inning, Michelle struck out two more batters. The third out was a little
pop to Tiff.
The third inning was more of the same for
Grantsburg. With 1 out, Tiff and Kylie each singled again. After Michelle
walked to load the bases, TechAnnie was at the plate. Now I have seen some
balls hit hard before but this one may be the best of all time. The line
drive left the infield like a missile and struck the fence clearing the bases.
It was quite a shot. When the ball hit the fence, there was a ripple effect....
like an earthquake, it circled the outfield and arrived back in our dugout.
Tuh fell off the bench and then spoke a few words in a foreign language.
As I look back through the scorebook even
our outs were good hits. For the game, Grantsburg would end up with 16
runs on 17 hits and 3 walks. Frederic batted only 16 hitters and had 9
strike out. They had 1 hit for the night.
For Grantsburg Tiff had 3 hits and a walk
as she scored 4 times. Kylie also had 3 hits. Michelle picked up 3
RBIs and scored 3 runs. Annie had a monster night as her 2 hits brought in
5 runs. EC picked up 2 hits of her own. Romo goes 2-4 and knocks in
3 runs. Cody is also on fire, lately, and hd 2 line drives for hits.
Finchy had the last shot of the night
Grantsburg had ZERO strikeouts for the night. Grantsburg
walked ZERO Vikings. The next game is at Superior on Monday night.
Both the varsity and JV will play games. At that time, the JV is done and
the varsity gears up for a serious tournament run.
