SCF STUNS the Pirates 2-0
Congratulations to the St. Croix players and coaching staff. You played extremely well. Probably everybody in the state except Grantsburg fans were cheering for you. Best of luck as you play Cumberland next Thursday night. It would be fun to have a rematch next Tuesday. The Saints knocked off the #1 ranked team in the state. They should be proud.
Hmmm. It is games like this that makes hope possible in every high school athletic contest. It is the reminder that anybody can win the game on the right night. The basketball team experienced it vs. Webster this year and tonight we experienced it. It reminds us to really value the wins that we have and never take anything for granted. It reminds us to practice hard. It reminds us that we could knock off teams. It is the reason that people go to high school contests. On any given night, any team can beat any team. Sure, it would have been fun to go undefeated. but it didn't happen. And now it is time for us to RESPOND. Being a math guy....If I had a die that had 21 sides....That one side will show up every 21 rolls. Time to move on.
Thanks to all of the Harley people that made for another fun Parent's night. The players really look forward to it each year and it has become a tradition. Thanks parents for all you do for the team and your daughter. You should be very proud. Across the state of Wisconsin, there are players just like ours. However, we like ours the best. Congrats.
Now for me..... I would like to stop and pout! But, I have learned that you just keep playing the game. The percentages are on our side. And also people watch the players and the coaches to see how they respond when things take a digger. So...we lost, but this team continues to be a blast. So time to MOVE on...... We play again next Tuesday.
Roxie celebrates a backhand diving stab. Judge Judy ruled it a Catch!

Great Pictures from Scott.
May 20 WIAA ruling: Unity, St. Croix, Luck and Grantsburg all appealed the early decision on eligibility of the players who participated in the Co-ed slowpitch tournament game. All players from these schools are reinstated.
In my opinion, it was a good decision from the WIAA. If a person can be turned in for drinking and only sit one game...It hardly seems fair if a player is out for season is she plays in a CO-ED slowpitch game. And as an example of patience, the WIAA took its time before making a decision. It is in the best interest of the athletes.
Name this senior basketball player...for the rest of the picture..see EC.

Game Summary
St. Croix opened the game with a single to right. She stole second base and advanced to third on a ground out to Annie at first. With two outs Michelle struck out Yunker to end the threat. Grantsburg also had a runner reach third base in the first inning, but she, too, was stranded.
In the third inning Larcom struck out but reached first when Grantsburg dropped the ball. She then advanced on a passed ball and scored as Swenson singled with two outs. She crossed the plate with the second run following another passed ball. They had the lead 2-0. In the Grantsburg half, the Pirates had runners on second and third with two outs but could not get any across the plate.
There really was no more action in the game. Larson for SCF dominated the Grantsburg batters and shut them out for the first time this season. In the win, Grantsburg struck out and amazing 12 times. On the other side, SCF struck out 14 times. Each team would manage only three hits. St. Croix Falls played a great game.
On May 21, SCF will play Cumberland at Cumberland. The winner will come back to Grantsburg next Tuesday night. It will make next Tuesday's game very interesting.
TWIS: and so ends the regular season. The flowers have been watered and so was Sarah. Then suddenly Sarah decided to grab the fire hose and the next thing you know...Ing if stuck up against the wall fighting off a stream of water. It was a good thing we crossed off the prefix non in the label marked non-potable water.. and no, it does not represent overflow from the little brick house on the hill to the west. We hit a ball to the JV field.. they tried to throw it back but only made one fence.. thanks for the cookies Tiff. and EC has new gloves. Annie lost a couple of softballs again. Go to the first station...it will be 50% of the time. We brought out WICKED! Don also shot some flies to the outfield. Then we spent time with EC pinned against the scoreboard. Gretchen and Ing have nothing to do these days. Don will be cheering for Mollie on Thursday and Friday. Did you know that Callie is pregnant? So the time required to run to positions was vastly improved with practice. Thanks to all the Harley Hogs that showed up.. I guess it has become a tradition. Mike Thoreson called me..He threatened to come to the game if we couldn't get the website to work. OK..the website still doesn't work. Gabbie took one on the pinkie...yet to be determined. More to come...when the website works...
