Grantsburg 4 - Frederic 0

The music was fast and the game finished in 60 minutes.  Put money on Frederic winning their regional championship.  They are very solid defensively with an OUTSTANDING pitcher.  If they improve their hitting they will make quite a statement in Division 4 softball.  And they may stop at Burnett Dairy.

When it comes time to catching May Flies, Cody is the best!!

(somebody explain that to Gabbie)

It may fill seats...... maybe he will sign with Vikings and then enter the Hall of Fame in Purple..

and maybe the posters come OFF the wall!

(the ones that are still left)

It was an exciting game.  You can always tell when it is exciting, because I don't take any pictures.. Let's hope that Scott did.

Michelle Fans 15!

This was a big game.  The Frederic pitcher shows us exactly what we need to see in order to go deep into the tournament.  Tonight, Chenal did not walk anyone and gave the Pirate batters everything they needed to see.  The game was at 4:30 tonight to help out the athletes that were double scheduled by the school.  Mich started the game very strong putting down the Vikings in order.  In Grantsburg's first inning the Pirates took advantage of an error by the Frederic First base person.  Michelle singled up the middle to score Sarah.  Annie followed by a line shot to the gap in right center.  The Frederic right fielder cut off the ball preventing Michelle from scoring.  The Pirates then blew their chance by striking out twice in a row.

The Vikes would threaten in the second inning.  Newman reached on a missed third strike and Laqua singled.  With runners on first and second, Michelle struck out the next three in a row.  It would be their only threat of the night.

The Pirates picked up their second run in the third inning.  Tiffany singled to start the inning.  Sarah followed with her own single to left field.  Tiffany was able to score when the pitcher threw it away past third allowing her to score.  Grantsburg would pick up the last two runs in the sixth.  Tiffany again reached base.  This time by an error. After Annie ripped a single to center, it went right past the center fielder and Tiff scored.  Emily came to the plate and picked up a line drive to right scoring Annie.  The score was now 4-0 and that is the way it would end.  Zero walks in the entire game... It was really fast.  Michelle finished the game with 15 strikeouts.  Lauren Romanowski has become a very good catcher.  We now tape 75% of her body.. then she sticks the extra tape on me. The Pirates picked up 8 hits for the night.  And they got to the music performance.  I tried to convince them to keep their black eye in place but I don't think it happened.  If you check out the pictures below,  Burnett Dairy offered both teams free cones.. Thank you very much.

TWIS:  Everybody got to watch their swing one frame at a time.  Not Gabbie, her film was deleted.  Bart came in and threw for two nights....Thanks very much.  Nicole's finger is still broken.  Sarah will have to leave early Saturday.  We now tape both of Romo's arms..If we taped them together they may never hurt again.  This is the first year we have suffered from "my thumb hurts" disease.  After last game, Cody's hand was black and blue again.  We did find socks for Don.  This music concert thing is nuts.  We were supposed to play Thursday but it was changed because they had a concert.  So they changed it to our concert????  Then they moved the game up to 4:30 to help.  The players wanted it at 1:00 and then release the high school.  This actually did happen a couple of years ago when the Cumberland tourney was rained out.  I read in the paper that Luck is on a roll.  Great shot Gretchen....Did Dan scout for you, too?  Mac hit herself pitching????  Romo gets everything taped.  Annie is reallly getting her monies worth out of the techzilla.  Heather broke her bat in two during practice.  They will replace it for free. Thanks to Burnett Dairy for offering cones to both teams after the game.  Scott made that happen.  Jessica's root canal went well.  By pulling hard on the nerve, one ear became shorter.  I spent the entire day at the river.....what did you do?  Even if we lose the next 3 conference games, we will still be conference champ.  This team is starting to collect some accolades.  The scheduling issue for tonights game was a bit hard on every body... But through efficient compromise by all, it worked.  Thanks to everyone that compromised.  #5 Heather had a nice hit....and showed off the BIG GUN as she threw out a runner at third.  Have you noticed that Mike gets us quality umpires... It is sooooo nice when the people wearing blue know the rules.  Our players enjoy games vs. Frederic.  The players are all friends.  Many college kids are finishing their semester today...with finals on the way.  Kelcy has just finished the last class of 7 years....wow.  Now everyone has finals.  Poor Stew.  He got here and 5:00 and only saw 30 minutes of the game.  He is a good fan! Becky liked her picture.   Thanks Rich for taking care of the field.  Thanks Duke for fixing the liner.  Dress warmly in the morning.  Emily and cody have poofy things.  The tape on the clothes did not catch on.  A 4:30 game seemed weird.  Congrats Pirates....you are now 16-0...... pretty nice.  Elise is spending today rafting in a cave that is lit by glow worms...  Can you believe that this team likes "I am Henry the 8th I am."  They are a great bunch of athletes....
