Grantsburg takes Rush City Siriusly....

Takes no Prisoners.... 21 - 4
Grantsburg has just completed 12 games. Hopefully, we have another 12 to play.
Happy Birthday Katie Kooiker...
It is Sunday night and I am back at school. Don has the Scorebook so I really can't tell you too much about that... All I remember about the actual game is that it snowed on the way over, I was teased for having a green coat, the game was close for two innings, and then we scored 14 in the third inning.... I will tell you some more details when I get the scorebook back but the final score was 21-4.
We spent most of the night talking about Cushing women. So here are a few videos from the dugout...just in case you heard laughter at unusual times...It was warm, dry, and relaxed in the dugout... Cushing is almost like a country all by itself. Remember last summer during the tornado and they interviewed the gal at the Cushing store...They asked her.."Where is Cushing located?" She didn't know!!! They asked is it near Rice Lake...She said "NO" Then they asked is it near Amery..She said "NO" but this is typical of the Cushing crowd...They really don't know... but...They are tough... So because Melissa lives close to Cushing...we had to ask the question... If you don't have DSL, then this part will not be a part of your life...You will have to ask people about it later... We Started with Maddie. We soon realized this was going to be some tough answers. When you need answers...go to Whit! We asked Alyssa and then Ashley. We thought for sure that Holly or Emily would know. Certainly Ms. Dairywoman of the year would know. Since Melissa lives there, she ought to know. Then some people started to have second thoughts. If they are tough, they certainly know how to deal with injuries. We even asked the elderly fan in the stands. Lauren just wasn't sure. Katie actually came on time so we asked the birthday girl. But we actually got an interesting answer from Miranda. But the ultimate answer came from Maci as she explained they allllll were related to her.
It is now time to go get the chicken at the Koze....the rest will show up Monday am.
TWIS: Monday morning...turkey season is over...the chicken was good. It has been a cooollld week. So for a moment, did you think I couldn't spell seriously?? Thanks for the cupcakes...sweet! I saw Alyssa walking in church so I hope the ankle is improving. Miranda threw out a runner at first. The Rush City team met us right away and the first thing they talked about was last year at Grantsburg. They liked the music, the introductions, the anthem by the Mormon tabernacle choir...and the entire surroundings. I guess I like it, too. We need better speakers...then again, with Pete's selections the speakers may be fine. Concession stand for the next few home games. Morp coming up. Mother-daughter banquet. Rice Lake lost a game. Cumberland will be TOUGH. I read in the Leader that when Grantsburg played Frederic that Grantsburg was scared. Where they at the same game as me???? They must not understand how to pinch hit for somebody...Our goal will be to train them. Michelle played well at RC. Melissa tried to throw a ball with her arm pit...(Cushing technique) Whit took one right in the middle of the back. Holly finally batted...it was so much fun that she batted three times in the same inning....wow. Rick had a great parking spot. I liked being by the dugout so I could keep a running commentary on each play... Finally a captive audience...at least they politely pretended to listen. The dugout was small...we sat in layers. The front was open...scary! The umpire was short. The third baseman from Rush city told Melissa to lead off like in baseball...Cushing used to have baseball. Melissa thought that was a good idea. We tried to put Allison in, but the ump couldn't find her. We are in need of somebody to take photos...no game tonight...we can actually practice. I am getting excited for Throwback night....Harley night may evolve to lawnmower night. We are 12-0 for the first time ever. Yesterday was MaY day....I hope you celebrated...and finally...this is fun... People that have been in sports a long time understand the concept of appreciation for every game... Appreciate what you have done. Celebrate what you have done. Find ways to improve your own personal game. Acknowledge good plays from other players. And in case we don't win another game, this has been a special season. If we win some more, that would be even better. Our most important game...is always THE NEXT ONE. check out the OLD pic of the Grantsburg Prison team...from the past.
Actually Cushing has arrived...have you seen the new ball park? did you know that Cushing is the best supporter of softball in the area? Did you know they are starting to boom? Check out their web page.... They have arrived!! And you are welcome...for the free publicity... and...my mom was from Cushing. Scott Hoffman is from Cushing. Lori is from Cushing. Bruce Brenizer was from cushing. Kevin Jones is from Cushing. Mike Moritz acts like he is from Cushing.
Happy MaY Day....2005FE
