St. Croix Falls....so does the wind screen!!

Genesis 1:1    In the big inning........ Grantsburg created 6 runs in a row... and then they rested.  Nell has become one of the premier lead off batters in the area.  Last night she took advantage of her first time at bat and laced a 1-hopper off the shoes of the third baseman for a lead off single.  Susan is starting to find her groove and followed with a walk.  When Elise placed a perfect bunt down the first base line, things were starting to roll.  Jamie put the ball in play and St. Croix chose poorly as Nell was safe at the plate.  Following walks by Megan and Kerissa, Carrie reached on an error to drive in 1 more run.  The inning was completed after Katie W walked and Nell grounded to second.  The damage was done... the ark was sinking and the Pirates were off and sailing......6-1  We kept looking for rainbows but didn't see anything.  There were several flocks of geese..none carrying fig branches.

Elise, fresh from her road trip to Chicago, pitched superbly.  In a night where people where wearing all the clothes they owned, she picked up her 5th win as she only walked 1 batter while striking out 8.  St. Croix managed a run in the first after a dropped pop up.  They also picked up 1 run in the second and the last run in the third.  Elise them hammered the door shut as she faced only 14 batters in the last 4 innings.

Grantsburg had a couple of very good defensive plays.  With runners on first and third, Jamie picked Meredith  off third base.  Whitney ran her to Jamie who returned her to Nell for the out at third.  It was good execution of throwing and the hotbox technique.  Later in the game, a perfect relay from Kerissa to Elise to Jamie nailed a runner at the plate.  Whitney also had a nice catch on a line drive down the line.  Megan was welcomed back to first and made an 11 foot stretch for 1 throw....like a giant Gumby!!

Grantsburg picked up two more runs in the third inning.  After the shortstop bobbled Katie K's grounder, she stole second.  Katie W picked up her second walk of the night followed by Nell's walk.  Susan stepped up and hammered one to center field.  Grantsburg's last two runs came in the 6th.  Elise started with a walk and advanced on Jamie's double..  After a couple of wild pitches both scored.

Grantsburg collected 10 runs on the night using only 4 hits and 9 walks.  On this windy night, they only fanned three times. Eight out of the nine starters scored a run.  St. Croix picked up three runs on four hits and five Grantsburg errors.

TWIS:  There will be an alumni game. Notice that TWIS is always red!! Soon I will Make it Green.gg just for effect. Because the entire earth is slowly but surely turning green. Mr. Morrin showed up.....He  actually braved the cold and stood outside for awhile...Welcome back....We want a kangaroo!!  St. Croix teased the players about wearing shorts....  We told them it was a Bud Grant thing.  It is April and the field was dusty.  But, don't worry...it may be white by tomorrow night...Would that make the field Barron?  Hi Matt...thanks for reading this...hope your picture shows...No practice Friday with Monday's practice at 6:00.  Hey Buddy...I can't hear you anymore....Good to see Russ Erickson back in Grantsburg.  Katie W bled all over the field..... We will practice flyballs forever.....  Poetry is not for everyone..It is kind of like being on your own private frequency.... I slept on the deck...  When do the expensive toilets start working?  Nell is having a great year.  Susan turned the corner and is now hitting just like old times....  Elise is off to a great start.  Jamie is starting to feel comfortable at the plate.... except when St. Croix girls land on her....also...did you see Elise throw the bat at Jamie's head?  Can an umpire eject you for throwing your bat at your catcher?  Will Jamie ever let a ball just go by so that it drills the ump?  My guess is that she will... Nice to have Megan and Kerissa playing... and dugout treats help with starting positions....(joke)  the sunflower seeds are great.  and now with a little water, they may grow.  There really wasn't an ostrich.  Practice like a champion.......anybody can focus during a game.... Are you able to focus in practice?  We are off to a good start.  Let's try and keep the momentum.......
