TIGERS TAMED  19-5

Although it was decided several days ago, Grantsburg has now officially won its 4th consecutive conference championship.  And to add to its accolades, we discovered that Osceola also won their conference as well as Spooner.  So this Pirate team has some pretty good numbers and is currently ranked 8th in division 3 according to poll.  If you are interested in the poll, visit www.fastpitchchronicles.com.

The seeding meeting also took place this week at Glenwood City.  Don jumped on his Harley and walked into the meeting with black leather and chains.  Grantsburg was immediately given the number 1 seed and has earned the right to have the first three tournament games in Grantsburg. If Steve had a Harley, they would have given us the sectionals, too.  I guess he will just have to keep riding backwards.gg  For the full tournament picture, go back to the Pirate homepage and click on WIAA page.  Grantsburg's first tournament game will be with Webster.  And our friends from WCMP radio will be there each night…and I promise a couple of moms to help them with a couple of pronunciations

Last night the Pirates opened up with a little show of hitting.  Nell, Susan, and Elise hit back to back to back singles in exactly the same spot.  When Jamie tripled, the runs started pouring in for Grantsburg.  It was just a matter of the game going three, four, or five innings.  Following the six consecutive hits to start the game, Grantsburg pushed six runs across the plate.  Elise got the nod to start the game.  She only got to pitch one inning and struck out 3 batters.  So far this year, Elise has faced 10 Webster batters with 9 striking out.

In the second inning, Grantsburg scored 8 on hits by Nell, Jamie, Megan, and Susan.  Webster was able to score three runs in the bottom of the second as they took advantage of two walks, two errors, and a hit.  Ashley entered the game in the third and pitched the last 3 innings..

The five inning game was concluded with Grantsburg getting 19 runs on 14 hits, 9 walks, and 5 Webster errors.  Webster ended with 5 runs on 4 hits,  6 walks, and three Grantsburg errors.  Nell and Susan each had 3 hits for the night… Welcome back Susan.  Elise, Jamie and Megan picked up 2 apiece.   Whitney and katie W had the other two hits.  Jamie and Megan each had 4 RBI's… and that was with Jamie only getting to bat twice, but it raised her average to .500.  The Pirates now have 3 players at or above .500.   That… has never happened before.  They can really put on quite a show.  I am a believer now.....

On Saturday, the Pirates will travel to River Falls for a double header.  The first game is at 10:00 with RF serving a picnic between games.  Remember, the  Grantsburg school parking lot is not available so we will meet at the pool and leave at 7:45 AM.  Trivia question:  Do you know what AM stands for?  The dumbest possible answer is after morning….so I hope you weren't thinking that…if you really want to know, call my cell phone 529-1486..

Next Tuesday is home against Northwood…"  Bill Stapp says they will kick our butt, or he will leave the country."  Thursday home against Webster….. the following Tuesday home again… and the following Thursday home again.  The winner of that regional championship will travel to Somerset.

TWIS:  Name that tune...  I find it ironic that most people don't have speakers.  Jamie knocked Elise end over end and she got stuck in a gopher hole.  Did you see one of the Webster players was taken out before the game started?  Jamie is the photographer of the day again, and she took about 30 pictures last night.  I hope she took the len's cap off the camera.  What is stuck in katie's mouth?  Do you think we should tuck our pants in our socks, too?  Nothing will ever be as bad as Turtle Lake's bandanas…Hey Elise, the yearbook looks great.  The names even match the people...what a clever idea!   Today, I get to spend the entire day at the St. Croix River.  And if it is nice, I will bet you won't work today. This team is starting to rewrite the offensive record book.  They are engraving their names in the history books.   The alumni game is now absolutely set.  It will be MAY 26 at 5:00  So far about 10 alumni claim that they will show…. So Buddy, bring your lawn chair, we may let you bat.  And Byron, did you get kicked off the field last night?  We will make sure that a press area is designated for our home games…. Either that or just sit in our dugout.  Ostriches!  They are every where.  We are going to fire up the music and the microphone for the next few games… Does anyone know how to burn a CD with music and names so that we can just drop it in?  Can you believe all the warm weather?  Did Kelcy yell at the radio guy for using the wrong name?  Callie arrived home last night.  Hey Megan, the game is finally set.  Does any alumni know the name of the Grantsburg player that pitched the first win in history? I am still a lover of dreams. DL,DL2,DL3…Hi Matt…see your pic?  Would the WCMP guys wear Grantsburg shirts, if we paid?  Would you go to Idaho with me?  The softball team is creating memories…. Sometimes memories can be sooo strong and sooo powerful.gggg  And with absolutely almost everything (???) memories are the final product… So you may as well have wonderful red and green memories….gggg

MFMITFK.....for the second time.gggg
