It is the Principal of the thing......

All Unity took home last night is the fun of playing the Pirates and also the Middle School Principal.  For the past few days, Noah has been sailing around Grantsburg.  For you people that sleep in on Sunday morning...I am referring to the Ark and the flooding.  But, to the surprise of all...... the softball field was solid and fast... very conducive to scoring lots of runs.  The Pirates have been riding the high tide lately, and last night the Eagles were the recipients....

The game had been moved up to 4:30 to accommodate Unity and previous evening commitments.  I think that a few of the Grantsburg fans were not aware of the change.  And if you don't arrive early in Grantsburg, the game may already be over.

Grantsburg retired Unity in the first inning very quickly.  The interesting play was the Nell to Whitney touchdown after a good bunt attempt.  Nell led Whit with a perfect scoring throw and Whit jumped on the runner... much like Derek Jeter of the Yanks.....In the bottom of the first, Grantsburg again jumped all over the visiting team.  Nell...one more time....started the game with a smash over the center fielder's head for a double.  Nell, Elise, Whit, Kerissa, Megan, Katie W, Shelby, and Nell's sister Nell all scored in the first inning.  Our players just can't wait to bat.  Poor other teams!

Grantsburg continued the Hail storm in the second using hits by Jamie and Whitney to score again.  Ashley got the nod to pitch in the third inning.  Unity picked up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks aided by a Grantsburg error.  With the possibility of only playing 4 innings, Whitney pitched the 4th and 5th and shut them down.

Grantsburg ended up scoring 16 runs again on 13 hits and 4 walks.  Nell added to her total and picked up two hits, with her best swing being caught by the center fielder.  Susan picked up 1 hit and 2 RBI''s.  Elise scored 3 times and added 2 hits of her own.  Jamie continued the barrage with 2 hits and 3 RBI's.  Whit is on a hot streak and went 3 for 3 again and scored twice. Sarah picked up her first hit of the year on a solid double to the gap in left.  Katie W added another hit as did Shelby.  Shelby also scored 2 runs.  Unity ended the game with 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks.

TWIS:  We finally caught the mythical ostrich...(see pics)  Where is Katie K?  Thanks Jamie for taking all of the pictures.  I know I get excited but I couldn't remember taking the shots.  The alumni are foaming at the mouth. Nell is batting .569 and will break the season record for number of hits.  Elise raised her average to .500 with a 2 for 3 performance.  Jamie is hovering just below .500 making for quite a trio of hitters.  We almost got a double play, but Susan threw the ball with her elbow.  Did you know we get new baseball dugouts?  The Unity coach liked our field and said they have to share their field with the baseball JV team.....  I told her we put up the fence to keep boy's teams away.  This is a softball field.  The college crew is all coming home.  Graduation is coming soon.  We need to get Grantsburg stuff for Shelby and Sarah to wear....  Don is not going to be around for a Sunday alumni game.....and there is no point in having the game if Don will not be there....so......Does anybody have an idea?  The Green Beast just had an oil change...  And I decide what is important for me! gggggg  You are welcome to vote.

FMF,  there is no choice.
