Unity gets feathers ruffled....25 times
The Sun is shining this spring and all is well... at least as well as it can be considering.... Last night we welcomed Unity to our conference and also helped them play the first game on their new field. The field was very nice and it worked well.... for us. We have officially declared it "lone Pine" field. It had one huge Pine tree and a Harley...What a perfect spot!!
The game was over quickly. Grantsburg scored 22 runs in the first two innings to make it a "no contest." In the marathon second inning, Whitney actually scored three runs..herself. Apparently, we hadn't discussed the 15 run rule after three innings so the umps decided we should play all five...so we did. Grantsburg improved its record to 6-0 with Elise pitching her first no-hitter and the Pirate bats collecting 16 hits.
I don't think anyone is interested in a play by play so let me add a few highlights. Jamie and Carrie collected three hits each for the night. You should have heard me cheer! gg Susan, Elise, and Whitney collected two each. Nell, Megan, Katie K, Shelby, and Katie W also had hits. Jamie also collect 3 RBI's, with 7 other players picking up two for the very balanced attack. Grantsburg ended the game with 25 runs on 16 hits and 9 walks. Unity picked up 0 runs on 0 hits and 4 walks. Elise struck out 10 Eagles in the five inning game.
TWIS: Megan and Kerissa are competing for black and blue marks. Katie K keeps tripping in the dugout and getting her head stuck in the fence. The brownies are certainly good. It was a long game for the ump... he yelled at us. It was nice to see the sun after so much rain and clouds. Welcome to our conference Unity. We still have to initiate Webster and Frederic. Nell made her coaching debut at first base. Jamie had a great night. Only two road the bus home. Ashley's knees touched. Why does she have a pink dot on her bat? So whose pants did Whitney really have? Carrie got three hits in a row.... It was Carrie-online...The Frosh collected six hits. All the fans sat together. Don't forget to check out all of Megan's black and blue marks... The people on the bus were all treated to some Wild Life on the way home. My cycle is not running yet so don't worry. Hi Kelcy...hope your phone is working. Grandma Marlys is a faithful fan. Susan thumbed her nose at the umpire. Katie hurt her ankle at second base...she was just soooo happy to be there. There are 22 or more 7th and 8th graders that want to play softball.... So.... if 5th and 6th follow, that could be an eventual high school team of 44.... we could play Spooner!! I am sending an emind statement to you today.... so smile brightly.
ISTOYTED!! gg I love it!
