Champion, Champion, Champion......
Last night was a very good softball game in Grantsburg. Luck has become a force. They look sharp and they play sharp. The Luck program has come a long way. The Grantsburg program has also come a long way. Last night they added their third consecutive conference championship by beating Luck 6-4. Nice to have you with us Russ Erickson. And Craig...you were a hit, too.
The game started with the ump yelling "TIME" Craig and his camera were hiding behind the plate. Doesn't Byron stand there? ...he asked. Yes, we all said, but he wears camouflage and the ump never sees him. So Craig joined us in the dugout.... With the exception of cheering for the wrong team once.....he was fun to have around...eagle man.
Callie quickly disposed of Luck in the first inning and that set the pace for the night. In the bottom of the first...Liz lined to short for an out, but it was a reflection of finding the sweet spot...and the Pirates did. Susan walked and reached third on Callie's blast to center field. When Elise lined to right for her first hit, both runs crossed the plate and the Pirates were ahead.
Luck rallied to tie the score and had a chance to take the lead, but a perfect relay from Katie to Elise to Liz cut her down at the plate. In the bottom of the 4th the Pirates fired up the hit machine again. With two outs, Becky bombed one over the center fielder's head for a double. Megan's RBI single gave the Pirates a lead. When Liz singled to left Megan crossed the plate for a 2 run lead.
In the 5th inning the Pirates again had things going..... Callie closed her eyes and got drilled by a pitch. Elise sent the next ball off into the wild blue yonder... as she jogged into second, Callie scored the 5th run. When Jamie picked up her second single of the night, Elise would score run #6.
Things got exciting in the last two innings. Elise came on to pitch and got us out of a jam in the 6th inning. In the 7th, Luck started with a bloop single to right. When the next batter walked, it placed the tying run on first base with the top of the order at the plate. The leadoff batter hit a short fly for the first out leaving the runners where they were. Elise then filed her nails, and struck out the next two batters to pick up the Save. The final score was 6-4 and the Pirates became the conference champion..... and Life was good.
TWIS: MaY day went well. I hope everyone did Touch base with an old friend. MAY did. And....ggg, I can't wait until JUNE day. I have been getting the question..."What is RAR?" You need to know that in TWIS, I include many messages that are meant to personalize it for many different people. If you are normal, you only get a few of my comments and completely ignore the rest. There is somebody who knows what RAR is... and somebody else who knows ..gggg and somebody else who gets something else. TWIS is like watching TV. There are many messages being broadcast, yet you can only focus on one thing. And understanding messages gives a certain sense of peace. Sometimes the Focus part is hard... Now let's go down a different path... We have a brown tarp in the batting cage. We will raise chickens in one end and sell eggs for a fundraiser. Nell is still sick. Good luck Nell. Kelcy is also very sick. She didn't want to leave practice early because it was before a big game, but she was too sick to play. Jeepers Liz. Becky always has good ideas. Jamie is still mad that I can't spell. Tom played T-ball. It was fun to watch Megan smile after her line shot to the gap. Did you see the new link to the conference results? If not, go back to the main page and check it out. Rocks are starting to surface. Was anything placed on your pillow? I have a new batting item that I will make tons of money....Not. muscles then nerves...what is next? Do you know the muscle that gives you goose bumps? I know what gives me goose bumps. And you will never guess who finally showed up on my deck this morning? And Jocelyn, I can't wait until you come to practice. It will be fun. Heather, will you play, too? Come back again Russ... Nice NY outfit. I will find my watch. Missed you Andy. Get will Jamie. And Becky, you did so well in this game....thanks for playing second. Tonight was really a TEAM effort. Get well Nell. Get well Kelcy.... You all come back now, ya hear?
RAR
there is peace in forever.
We
broke in a new guy tonight....
Just
checking to see if she turns her back foot
Hit the ball when I take your picture
Becky launches one and pauses for applause
Hide behind the firstbaseman and the catch won't see me
Do you think they would switch to Basketball?
Callie starting to whince as she is about to get hit.
Sure Becky, make me dive in front of the runner
I still have your socks, I will strike you out
The catcher seems so far away from here
Score is tied...On TV this works.
So let's just hit a few batters.
Sue eats the remaining brownies.
