Grantsburg Crushes Clayton 27-0 in 5 innings.
Grantsburg got to play its first game with the new scoreboard. We still aren't sure if the visitor's score works, but the Home score goes at least as high as 27. It was a good thing that we only batted four times. With the exception of the people that fell in the water puddle, a good time was had by all.
I can tell you right now that you don't really want to read about each inning so I will just mention a few highlights. Grantsburg did score 10 in the first inning, 8 in the second inning. 4 in the third and 5 in the 4th and last inning.
So lets do a little run down of some good things. Liz picked up two hits, two walks and scored 3 runs. Sister Sara walked twice.
Kelcy scored three times on two hits and a walk.
Callie also picked up two hits, two runs, two RBI's, and two walks.
Elise picked up 3 RBI;s with two hits and scored 4 of the runs.
Jamie was extra funny tonight. We think she must have had a good day at school. She also scored 3 runs while picking up a hit and then crashing at home plate.
Nell was one of the big winners as she picked up 5 RBI's with 1 hit and a sacrifice fly.
Susan started to swing and scored twice with two hits.
Katie also scored for the Pirates.
Becky scored twice and picked up a double and a walk
Grace came in and scored twice.
Megan picked up 1 run and 1 hit and also walked
Tabea got to bat twice. We love her socks. Make sure you check out the picture later in the article. In Switzerland, she got a base hit... but in America they call it an infield fly....oh well....But, she picked up an RBI... Now I know you are reading this, Tabea..... RBI means Run Batted In.... It is nothing for which you should be taking medicine.
Callie pitched the first 3 innings and gave up only 1 hit. Elise pitched the last two innings and also gave up 1 hit.... The infield did turn a double play and almost picked up a double double.
TWIS: Tabea was robbed. In Switzerland they would have called it a hit. In America, they call in the infield fly. The home scorer disagreed. Liz is going to play with a red and white dare devil suspended from her eyebrow. It is not considered jewelry. Tom had his birthday and received balloons and cupcakes. Thanks to the 8th graders that put up the wind fence......put in the bases... and picked rocks. Thanks also to Mike Amundson for all of his work... And thanks to Clayton for helping. The infield was solid. Sarah sold her red sliding pants. Laura heard she had to do a flip and didn't come to the game. Andrew and Sandra...together again. Who was smoking in my truck? No turkeys, yet. Hi Tera.... Hi Kerissa. Thanks Molly for doing the scoreboard. Spooner will be good. Kelcy and Elise's cousin plays for Barron. Have you heard how Somerset has been doing? Can you believe that the ball was being thrown into center field and Grace fielded it and threw it to the pitcher? Did you know the ump only had one eye? It was a really fun game. The Clayton players were very nice and I recognized many of them from their championship basketball team. Did you know Tabea is ripped? Tony just called and he got a turkey... Hi Grandma Marlys...Did you know that Dan...in Scotland actually reads this.... and Tabea, make sure you send all of your pictures across the pond.
